To enable us to allocate you the most appropriate appointment all requests to be seen by a GP both routine and urgent, are initially dealt with via Telephone Consultationthis will either be with the doctor of your choice or one of the other doctors on duty that day.
You will be asked if you would be willing to provide some basic details to the receptionist to help them allocate you the most appropriate telephone consultation slot.
The doctor will contact you as soon as possible or, if you prefer, at a more appropriate time, if you are working etc.
The doctor will only attempt to contract you twice; if you are unobtainable and you have an answering service, the doctor will leave you a message asking you to return the call. If this happens please contact the surgery again and request another telephone consultation slot. If you have not heard from the doctor by 2.30 pm if a morning call was expected or by 6.15 pm if an afternoon call was expected, then please ring the surgery back just in case something has gone wrong with our communication systems.
Once the doctor has discussed your problem with you, and if it is clinically necessary, you may be offered a face-to-face consultation with either a doctor or a practice nurse.
Where possible appointments are offered at a mutually agreeable time, we are now able to offer you late appointments with a doctor if needed.
Please ensure we have the correct contact details for you and an up-to-date mobile number if available.
If you require further assistance with our appointment system please contact the surgery by phone – 01768 361232
Appointment and telephone consultation requests for our Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistant or Phlebotomist can be made routinely with a receptionist.
Home Visits
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 10:30.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
Request for “Home Visits” must be made before 10.30am
Cancellations
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
